Last Thursday was our fifth annual Black Thursday event at Plastic Surgery Associates of Santa Rosa, and, boy, did we have fun! Patients called our practice all year long to find out the date.
Why all the excitement? Because each year our guests learn, watch, try, sample, and walk out feeling good. The way our practice sees it, Black Thursday is a celebration of patient education in an entertaining, informal setting with raffles, gift bags, treatment demonstrations, and discounts on services.
Because we closed down the practice for the day, the entire staff, including both plastic surgeons, were available to our guests. Company reps joined us to demonstrate, show, and describe our various high tech machines and medical-grade products.
During the day, guests with previously scheduled Botox appointments experienced personalized treatments in the privacy of an exam room. This was no “Botox party”– we maintained the same medical standards and attention to detail that we adhere to every day.
One of our most popular stations was our CoolSculpting demo, where our volunteer cheerfully answered questions while the machine was freezing her fat. How did it go? “Piece of cake,” she said as she glanced over at our colorful cupcake display.
In about three months, she’ll see about a 20% reduction in her bulge without surgery or downtime. (Knowing that, she might have snuck a cupcake after her treatment.)
Ultimately, the day was about education. Dr. Canales and I love teaching, and we were delighted to answer questions about our nonsurgical options, like Venus Legacy for skin tightening and circumferential reduction; Fraxel for lines and pigment; Ultherapy for tissue tightening; Lumenis for melasma and redness; and Dermapen for stretchmarks and lip lines. For those patients wanted to know about surgical options, like facelifts, tummy tucks, and breast augmentations, we were able to answer questions.
And products? Our Obagi, SkinMedica, ColoreScience, and Skinceuticals reps shared information applied products, and performed demos.
By the time the event was over at 7 P.M., we’d gotten to see many old friends as well as meet guests who had come to our practice for the first time.
Black Thursday would never have been such a success without the hard work and dedication of both the company reps and our staff. From the reps who performed demos and the nurses who did treatments to the front staff who greeted our guests, everyone worked together as a team.
Of course, we’re always looking for ways to make the event better! So after our debriefing session, we’ll start planning our Black Thursday, 2015.
Hope you can make it!
