With more and more nonsurgical skin-tightening treatments available, it’s a wonder anyone has a facelift anymore! The truth is some patients are great candidates for nonsurgical skin-tightening treatments, and they get spectacular results. But others will see little difference without a facelift.
How do you know if you’re a good candidate for a nonsurgical treatment? Here’s a good rule of thumb: If you can easily pinch extra skin between your thumb and your index finger without pulling the surrounding skin, you’re probably ready for a facelift. Nonetheless, even surgical candidates may see a benefit from nonsurgical treatments.
Nonsurgical skin tightening face treatments work by heating the tissues with energy waves. Those energy waves may be a single wavelength (laser), intense pulsed light (IPL), radiofrequency waves (Thermage), or the newest modality, ultrasound (Ultherapy). Each modality penetrates to a depth that depends on the type of energy. IPL can improve fine wrinkles, color, and texture of the skin. Laser is similar, but treats wrinkles and tightens skin more aggressively. Thermage tightens at a deeper level, and Ultherapy tightens even deeper, at the muscle level. The deeper the energy penetration, the greater is the tightening of the lower face, neck, and brows. The tightening process continues over a period of six months, so the treated area just looks better and better!
Our most popular skin tightening treatment of the face and neck is Ultherapy. Because there is no down time, it’s easy to fit into a busy schedule. In fact, the response has been so tremendous that it’s become one of our most popular aesthetician medspa treatments.
